Through 2 PM...a line of showers and thunderstorms continues to move northeast through the Gulf waters and into the western Florida Peninsula this afternoon. The line is currently located from 60 nm west of Venice...northeast through Tampa Bay and into Sumter County near Bushnell. Additionally...an area of scattered storms is moving ahead of the line as far south as Port Charlotte. The strongest storms are capable of producing small hail...periods of brief heavy rain...gusty winds...and dangerous lightning.
