... Coastal Flood Advisory in effect from 10 am this morning to 3 PM EST this afternoon...
The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a coastal Flood Advisory... which is in effect from 10 am this morning to 3 PM EST this afternoon.
Northeast winds gusting over 25 knots will continue today and tonight. These winds have caused water levels on the coast and the back bays to run higher than normal Sunday night and early Monday. The next high tide... which will occur around noon on the coast and before 3 PM on the lower Delaware Bay... will be the higher of the two daily tides. Water levels may reach minor tidal flooding levels at these times.
Recent beach erosion along the shore has eliminated some of the sand dunes. Winds and wave action may cause flooding in areas that were protected by these dunes previously.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A coastal Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore. Do not park your car in areas that may receive tidal flooding.
